1. Who we are
CyLocal (cylocal.com) is the social network for Cyprus. For the purposes of EU/UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal data described below. Contact us at hello@cylocal.com.
2. What we collect
Account details you provide: email, username, display name, and optional profile fields like bio, avatar, and district. Content you create: posts, comments, and direct messages. Technical data needed to run the service, such as your session cookie.
3. Why we use it
To provide the service — showing your posts to followers and delivering your messages — to keep accounts secure, and to respond to support requests. We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
4. Legal basis
We process your data to perform our contract with you (running the service you signed up for) and, where relevant, to comply with a legal obligation or pursue our legitimate interest in keeping CyLocal secure and working well.
5. Where it’s stored
Data is stored with Google Firebase in the EU (eur3 multi-region) and processed by Google Cloud infrastructure under their data processing terms.
6. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet a legal obligation.
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@cylocal.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection.
8. Cookies
We use a single, essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use tracking or advertising cookies.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We’ll post the new effective date here when we do.
